NT26NE 69 c. 26 68

Sir John Clerk 'owned many Roman coins found during the construction of the new road between Fairmilehead and Liberton, formerly called Kaimes Road but in recent years renamed Frogston Road East and West (NT 2737 6806 to NT 2477 6825). These included a large brass coin or medallion bearing the head of the Emperor Claudius. Another coin bore the inscriptions 'Ti. Claudius Caesar Augustus P.M.T.R.P. IMP.' and, on the reverse side 'NERO CLAUDIUS DRUSUS', and the figure of a horseman upon a triumphal arch. One, a well preserved gold medal, had a representation of Antonius Pius and another the figure of Lucius Septimus Severus...'
